Location scouting St. Léger, April 2014
Saturday morning, Emilie and Jules joined Cecilia in St. Léger to visit potential locations which may feature in the short movie. They started with a short briefing and a review of the meeting agenda. A casting was also to be held.
Cecilia's script of 20 scenes requires four types of locations. One and a half day, the film makers visited private homes, natural spots, and bars - for the sake of the movie of course. At the same time, they got an impression of the working conditions and organisation of the shooting days at place.
The location scouts were surprised by the hidden gems of St. Léger. While the village has some obvious highlights (the lake for instance), other locations breathe the more hidden charm of ancient days. A facade does not always tell about its interior...
This coffee bar in central St. Léger is definitely a place, where the movie makers' hearts beat faster. Where players may still gather for card games, not so much has changed during its 92 years of existence. The cellar still hosts a bowling alley, witness of one's joy and other's sorrow.
At Cercle St. Louis, the team of movie makers will enjoy dinners, thanks to a good deal offered by the St. Léger marching band "Harmonie Royale Sainte-Cécile". Apart from the rustic dining room, the location hosts a rehearsal room and an auditorium for music and theatre performances.
Without the support of local sponsors and friends, this movie could not be made. Nathalie et Bruno Stoz offered free accommodation for the team at their newly built "Les gîtes du d'vant du bois" in St. Léger.
Also starring: The lake of St. Léger. One part of the lake is reserved for swimming, the other part for fishing and all this is surrounded by a path, ideal for joggers and walkers. All that Jules' short movie requires: A jogging path and a bench.
One scene of the movie will be shot at the Saint Donat church in Arlon. A great place with a wonderful view over the city's roofs.
In between the visits of private homes, the location scouts went out into nature. The surroundings of St. Léger are rich of rivers and brooks, symbolic of the short movie.
Producer, director and DOP seemed happy with the choice of locations which will be validated by the art director. Special thanks go to Christianne and Frédéric Guichart for hosting us at their place. Arts vivants spent an adventuresome weekend with friends!
